About
The Dorm Chef originated in my fourth semester of school, in the spring of 2009. I was at school in my dorm room trying to think of what kind of job I could get on campus to earn a little bit of extra money. I then thought about starting a blog of some kind that I could update daily. The problem was that I really wasn’t sure what topic to write about on my blog. As I was eating my dinner I made using my George Foreman grill, I realized that I could start a blog about recipes which could be cooked in a dorm room. And that was it, no looking back from there.
My goal with The Dorm Chef is to let other college students know that anyone can cook great healthy meals without much cooking knowledge. I’m also not promising hundreds and hundreds of original recipes, but I do guarantee that my recipes will vary greatly so that you don’t have to cook the same five or six meals every week.
One of my main priorities with The Dorm Chef was to have all of the recipes geared toward being made using only a grill and a microwave, since that is what I was allowed in my dorm room. However, after a few weeks of posts I received feedback letting me know a lot of college students out there actually do have kitchens available. So in the future I will try to post steps to cook the recipes in a traditional kitchen or, if possible, using just a microwave and grill.
In the end, I hope that you leave this site with more knowledge than you had coming in, and that you keep checking back for more helpful recipes. Enjoy, and please let me know if I can improve my site in anyway.
