Pictures are worth a thousand words . . .
Posted by Thomas in Uncategorized on May 31, 2010
From the beginning, I’ve tried to make sure that I have had pictures with all of my recipes because I know how important it is. It’s easy to dismiss a dish you’ve never heard of with ingredients you don’t like, but it’s hard to turn your head away from a picture that makes your mouth water. I know I’m much more likely to try something if I like what I see.
So that’s where foodgawker comes in. foodgawker is a site that allows users to upload their own recipes. The only criteria - you must have a breathtaking image of your dish. Not every recipe submitted is accepted ( unfortunately, I know this for a fact, haha ) so you know you’re getting some of the best recipes out there.
If you’re not sure what you want for dinner, just browse the main page and find something that looks good. If you’re looking for a certain type of dish, whether it be an appetizer, a main dish, or even desserts - just scroll down to the bottom of the page where you can choose to filter the recipes by category. Also, if you’re like me and you sometimes find more than one recipe you’d like to try but don’t feel like printing out 10 pages of recipes, you can register for an account and you can save your favorite recipes. No need for tons of print outs or bookmarks taking up tons of space, just save everything right on the site itself.
I’ve used this site lots of times and I have yet to be disappointed with any of the dishes I’ve tried. Definitely worth checking out.
Best.Cupcakes.Ever
So, as I was looking at my favorites on Stumble and I came across a site I “liked” a couple of weeks ago. A friend and I spent about 20 minutes staring at these pictures trying to figure out what each cupcake represented. See how many you can guess correctly. (If you want the answers, scroll down to the comments on the page)
Back again!
Well, it’s been quite a while since I’ve updated this thing, but I think I may be ready to come back and start it up again.
I got so many positive responses to this site when I first started it up and I was so excited to be doing something I enjoyed, but my interest eventually fizzled out when I tried to do too much too fast. I think this time I’m just going to take it slow and try to update on a more regular basis, though I probably won’t be posting more than one original recipe a week, if that.
I’m trying to save some money this semester, so I’ve been cooking less in the dorm and eating in the cafeteria more frequently. But, I still stumble all of the time and I find lots of good recipes that I’d love to try, so I’m sure some of you would be interested in those articles. So if nothing else, I’m going to try and update two or three times a week either with my own recipe, or something good that I find online.
Anyways, hope you all enjoy.
